Wow, what a month it’s been. I made it – that is that I hit my goal of 150k hands. With a whole 4 minutes to spare. It got a bit silly at the end – I was running out of time and opted to grind 8 tables of low stakes Zoom! to make sure I hit the target, securing the bet with Dave. He hit his 60k hand goal too so the bet is officially a wash but I think we’d both call our respective months a success. Personally I feel 150k hands is a bit much and while my results were very good, I will be aiming a little lower in June. There were a few times where I was grinding stakes I wouldn’t normally play just to put in volume and I didn’t play well – and it was all for no good reason really. I’d prefer to just play fewer tables of my regular games, or take a break, rather than force myself to put in volume under sub optimal conditions.
Anyway, here are some graphs for the month.
May has been my best month of the year all in terms of volume, results & how I felt I played. I really feel at the top of my game at the moment and am only looking to move it forward. I’ve been working with Jared Tendler on some of my mental game issues and will be having a lot of sessions with him going forward – this is something i’m very excited about and it has already proven helpful. I’ll likely blog on a few interesting topics that have arisen during our sessions in the upcoming months.
I had three goals for this month. 150k hands, video targets for UltimateGrinders and PokerStrategy and to continue with C25K. Unfortunately it feels like in order to have accomplished my 150k hands I slacked in the other two departments. I still made a few videos and exercised more than I normally do so I consider it progress, just not as much as I would have liked. That’ll change this month.
- 100k Hands
- 4 videos for UltimateGrinders & 2 for PokerStrategy
- 30 mins of exercise 5 times a week
- Implement and upkeep a warm-up and cool down before/after every session
Basically the same as last month but a bit toned down and more realistic, with the addition of focusing on the mental game routines I am adding to my game. I see no reason why I shouldn’t be able to succeed with all of the above goals. So here’s to a great June Hope everyone else has one too!
